                        The Mission of the DSNY Asian Jade Society:

Our Goal is to extend our Member's and Community the following:

  1. To Promote tolerance and understanding of the different cultures
    that make up the DSNY Asian Jade Society.
  2. To Teaching cultural diversity, tolerance and understanding of the
    different ethnicity's, which will create a strong bond and working
    relationship between the Sanitation Department and the Asian
    Communities.
  3. To recruit talented, multilingual, and educated Asians to increase
    the number of Asian Sanitation Employees in the NYC Sanitation
    Department, so that they may represent and assist their
    communities by working in those Districts.
  4. To Design, Devise and apply effective programs that will facilitate
    education of the public in such critical areas as public health,
    community liaisons relations, understanding the sanitation Code of
    Digest, Rules and Regulations, Summons Prevention, Adopt a
    basket program, Recycling issues and Safety concerns.

                          Our DSNY Asian Jade Society History


The New York City Department of Sanitation “Asian Jade Society” was
established in 2000 by five Uniformed Sanitation Personnel, who
together had a vision. They had envisioned of a diverse Sanitation
Department who would need an organization to champion the cause for
Asian Uniformed Sanitation Personnel. These five Uniformed Sanitation
Personnel are the fore fathers of our Society and forever the corner
stone of our history.

                                          They are:

Luiz Pang – Kenny Ng – Paul Hoey Richard Ariya


Throughout the years, Our Society has changed its name a few times. In
2000, the Society was originally named “Chinese American Association”.
In 2003, the Society growing numbers of Asian from different Ethnicity
has structure the Society to adopt another new name called the “Asian
American Association”. In 2004, the Society has been associated with
other Asian Jade Society from various City, State and Federal agencies.
This collation has transformed the organization to be part of the Asian
Jade Society known as the DSNY Asian Jade Society representing
Sanitation Laws.

The Asian Jade Society is an Official Fraternal Organization for the
Department of Sanitation. Our members are made up of Sanitation
Personnel of Asian or Pacific descent. The Society has personnel of
different ethnicity such as Chinese, Filipinos, Korean and Vietnamese.
